My main index list gets longer and longer

I could use namespaces like a b c d e f, but I would prefer to keep them all in the same main namespace and instead set a limit - a limit how many words appear on one page under each other.

As you realize: I am a rather stupid user of your software.

I think, this can be another approach to the problem of long indexes. No matter if one is using different namespaces or not, there always can be a namespace with tons of pages. There are different solutions proposed on different places in this dokuwiki:wiki… I try to collect them, to hopefully dsicuss about a way that may fit most wiki-admin's needs:

  1. give opportunity to config at local.php a maximum number of shown pages in an index (e.g. 20) - further index is shown by clicking a link / button named “next 20 pages in this namespace”
  2. cut index in different colums (as “matching pagenames” does, when performing a search)
  3. give opportunity to config at local.php several ranges in the alphabet (e.g. a-f, g-q, r-z or a-n, o-z) which will cut the index and label buttons/links wit “a-f”, “g-q”…
  4. other ideas?

Please give your opinion why you think which solution is the best, so a reasonable feature-wish can be added to flyspray…
