====== Mailinglist ====== After a very helpful discussion about available bugtracking systems I like to use the same process to find a Mailinglist Software. ===== Requirements ===== * Software based on Perl, PHP or C/C++ - There is no Java or Python available on my Server * Should work with my Postfix MTA * Maybe integrate with flyspray/DokuWiki's auth-Database * Some Webinterface to read and manage, maybe even post (Some combi of Forum and Mailinglist would be cool) * RSS-Feed of recent posts ===== Benefits ===== * Move //talk// about development decisions out of the Wiki.\\ I don't see this as a benefit (at least major one), because ever since FlySpray was deployed I find myself contributing less to the Bug Reports and Feature Requests as I used too. I assume other users have the same notion about this. Would it be possible (although I don't know how) to complement the Issue Tracking and Mailist List systems with DokuWiki pages? I only recall the code that integrates WordPress with DokuWiki. Could something like that be deployed that would join together the systems so useful for development management and task's tracking with the excellent, simple, pratical, easy and fast Wiki concept? --- // straider 2005-04-05 11:26// \\ I only know about phpList, to be helpful. A demonstration is also available. ===== Questions ===== * a developer list only or a user list, too? ===== Software ===== If anyone has experience in any of the following software please share your knowlege. ==== mlmmj ==== http://mlmmj.mmj.dk/ - //This is an attempt at implementing a mailing list manager with the same functionality as the brilliant ezmlm, but with a decent license and mail server independency.// ==== Minimalist ==== http://www.mml.org.ua/ - Minimalist stands for Minimalistic Mailing Lists Manager. Perl > I heard it's simple to setup, but no webinterface is available!? I've found that: http://freshmeat.net/projects/minimalist-admin/?branch_id=58583&release_id=265743 homepage: http://high5.net/ But i've not tested it yet. Regards, Denis BRAUSSEN ==== ecartis ==== http://www.ecartis.org/ ==== Mailgust ==== Mailgust is a combination between forum and mailing list but uses a restrictive license :-( > Are you referring to "Modified program codes may not be publicised, distributed or sold in any manner."? I've used Mailgust and I'm quite happy with it. >> Yes. It doesn't sound bad at first but it is not truly free software. For example all the little hacks for DokuWiki collected in wiki:tips and other wikis around the globe wouldn't be allowed if DokuWiki would use the same license. --- //Andreas Gohr 2005-04-30 12:14// ==== Sympa ==== http://sympa.org/features.html ==== Gmane ==== Gmane lets you create a bidirectional gateway between virtually any mailing list and a "news" (nntp) interface. This works just fine. I believe a newsreader is the ideal interface for a mailing list, much better than plain email or a web interface. --- //Jan Decaluwe 2005-04-29 11:23// > They provide a great service, but one still needs a mailinglist software first. Maybe one of the hosted services below, combined with Gmane is the way to go... --- //Andreas Gohr 2005-04-30 12:14// ===== Hosted Services ===== A hosted Service could be a good alternative. * freelists.org - hosts technology related lists for free * Google groups lets you create your own groups, too * yahoogroups - bah!
